At 4imprint, we pay extra attention and care to those items being distributed to children. Conformity to regulations and standards managed by the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCSPA) must be verified by our product safety compliance team before any item can be sold.
Specific regulations exist for apparel, toys, and more general children's products to ensure that the different risks are assessed and tested for.
To ensure children's toys are safe, all toys approved for distribution and marketing at 4imprint are subject to meeting the regulations of the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act – Toy Regulation SOR/2011. This order requires testing of products for flammability, sharp points, small parts, and harmful chemicals such as lead and phthalates.Shop all Better Choices™ products meeting these Children's Toys standards
Children's apparel must comply with several regulations set forth by the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA), all of which are verified before sale at 4imprint. This includes meeting flammability standards as mandated by Canadian Textile Flammability Regulation (CAN/CGSB 4.2 No 27.5) and ensuring accessories such as zip pullers and buttons meet the Consumer Products Containing Lead Regulation (SOR/2018-83).
We verify that there are no drawcords in upper body garments such as hoodies and jackets in line with the CCPSA, and at 4imprint have also voluntarily extended that rule to lower body garments such as sweatpants and shorts.Shop all Better Choices™ products meeting these Children's Apparel standards
The Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA) includes regulatory limits for harmful chemicals such as lead in children's products (SOR/2016-193). A children's product would be an item that is not a toy or apparel but is still by size and/or style targeted specifically for children – an example might be a baby blanket, some fun child-orientated stickers, or a colouring book. At 4imprint we have also voluntarily extended this rule to include limits for phthalates in line with the USA market regulations.Shop all Better Choices™ products meeting these Children's Products standards
This regulation specifically tests materials and chemicals used in art materials such as the crayons and colored pencils sold at 4imprint to ensure they present no harm to health. A toxicological review and laboratory test take place as part of the test to confirm all materials are safe. You will always find the phrase 'Conforms to ASTM D-4236' printed on the item or its packaging to confirm conformance.Shop all Better Choices™ products meeting these Art Materials standards
